Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that he has fulfilled his promise to the Ham people of Kaduna State with the commissioning of major road projects in Jaba Local Government Area, ending more than two decades without any completed government road in the area.
Speaking at the inauguration of five township roads in Kwoi, the headquarters of Jaba LGA, alongside the strategic Kwoi–Gora Road, the governor said the projects demonstrate his administration’s commitment to fulfilling promises and ensuring equitable development across the state.
The commissioned roads are Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Doctor Sani Road, Hospital Road and Kpop Ham Palace Road, in addition to the Kwoi–Gora Road.
Uba Sani recalled that during the groundbreaking ceremony for the projects in September last year, he assured residents that the intervention would not become another abandoned government promise.
“By the grace of God and through the dedication of our team, we have returned to redeem that pledge. Nothing strengthens the bond between a government and its people more than promises fulfilled,” he said.
The governor noted that Jaba was among 12 local government areas that had suffered years of neglect in road infrastructure, describing the situation as inconsistent with the principles of fairness, equity and justice.
“For well over two decades, Jaba Local Government Area did not witness the construction of a single completed kilometre of road,” he said, adding that his administration was determined to reverse that trend through deliberate investments in infrastructure across all parts of Kaduna State.
He disclosed that the state government has initiated 150 road projects covering over 1,355 kilometres across the 23 local government areas, with most of the projects already completed.
According to him, the roads are more than physical infrastructure, but symbols of inclusive governance and a commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the distribution of democratic dividends.
Uba Sani said the Kwoi township roads and the Kwoi–Gora Road would improve access to schools and healthcare facilities, enhance commercial activities and make transportation easier for farmers and traders.
He added that the Kwoi–Gora Road, which had long been a source of hardship, especially during the rainy season due to erosion and poor conditions, would now boost economic and social interactions, improve emergency response, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and attract investment to Jaba Local Government Area.
