The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arrested no fewer than 18 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as “Yahoo boys” in Lekki area of Lagos State.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, who disclosed this in a statement, said the suspect were arrested following intelligence reports received by the Commission about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.
Me. Uwujaren identified the arrested suspects include Tijani Olumide Ahmed, Balogun Olusola, Ukuhor Richie Ifemeluona, Ologun Damilola, Adetokunbo Yusuf, Olubiyo Timilehin, Oyegoke Gafar Olaitan, Agarawu Farug Okikiola, Kazeem Oluwadamilare Adebayo and Salau Rahmon.
Others are: Abdulrahman Adeshina Olasunkanmi, Rasheed Remilekun, Adeyanju Kehinde Emmanuel, Owolabi Temidayo Habeeb,Ojora Usman Olawale, Mubarak Balogun, Rafiu Olusegun and Ayobami Habeeb Oyeleye.
Items recovered from the suspects according to the EFCC include – cars, laptop computers, mobile phones, and charms.
The EFCC spokesman, however, noted that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
