The Emir of Biu, HRH, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha Aliyu has appealed to his subjects to be involved in mobilising and providing toilet facilities within their residential areas in Biu Emirate without no exception.
He also called on his subjects to comply with the rules and provisions of Open Defecation Free (ODF) projects in their domains and support UNICEF and government in achieving its mandate.
The royal father who stated this Thursday at his palace, further assured that all his district and village heads have been mobilized in ensuring that the mandate of the project is actualized in his emirate.
He thanked the media and UNICEF team for their visit and said his doors are always open for developmental and progressive activities in the overall interest of his people while wishing the visiting team success in the mission.
Earlier, the Acting General Manager, Borno State Rural Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASSA, Engr. Babagana Sa’ad who led the media and UNICEF team on homage to the Emir of Biu, HRH, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha Aliyu said the team were at his palace to show appreciation over his support and cooperation in the actualization of the ODF project in some LGAs within his emirate, especially, in Biu and Shani LGAs locates in the southern part of the state.
He also thanked the royal father his acceptance and passion to continue to mobilize his subjects on the Open Defecation Free Project while pledging to continue to seek the blessings and support of the royal father in future projects and programmes in the emirate.
The UNICEF WASH Specialist Maiduguri Field Office, Salihu Loni Abdu thanked the emir for assisting and supporting UNICEF personnel and projects , especially, the Water and Sanitation projects being embarked upon in the emirate by the Borno State Government in collaboration with the UNICEF and other partners.
He assured that UNICEF will not relent on its efforts to achieve its mandate on ODF and WASH while promising to ensure that WASH improves the living environment and health of the people of the emirate.
