A Secretarial Assistant with the Bauchi State Hospitals Management Board, Sani Mohammed Tirwun, had been dismissed from service by the State Civil Service Commission over alleged fraud.
The Information Officer, Bauchi State Civil Service Commission, Saleh Umar, made this known in a statement entitled: “CSC Bauchi dismisses Sani Mohammed Tireun, Secretarial Assistant II, upgrades 32 officers,” dated: October 7th, 2023 and made available to journalists on Saturday.
He said the fraud committed by Tirwun include: falsification of record, issuance of fake appointment letters, illegal posting of illegal staff, faking of the Board’s Staff Officer’s signature and alteration of posting letter.
Umar added that he allegedly collected over N1 million in order to issue fake appointment letters. He also allegedly collected N250,000, N200,000 and N150,000 respectively to insert the defrauded persons among the approved posting.
He said the offenses contradict Chapter (4) Section 4 Rule 108, item xvii, xiv, xv of Bauchi State Public Service Regulation 2017 (reviewed version), during the Commission’s 22nd plenary session held on October 5th, 2023.
“The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed one Sani Mohammed Tirwun, a Secretarial Assistant II of the Bauchi State Hospitals Management Board for an act of serious misconduct.
“The Commission considered the dismissal during its 22nd plenary session held at the Conference Hall of the Commission on 5th October, 2023. Sani Mohammed was found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee of the Hospitals Management Board for falsification of record, issuance of fake appointment letters, illegal posting of illegal staff, faking of the Board’s Staff Officer’s signature and alteration of posting letter.
“These contradict Chapter (4) Section 4 Rule 108, item xvii, xiv, xv of Bauchi State Public Service Regulation 2017 (reviewed version) that dealt with aforementioned offenses as serious misconduct and liable to dismissal.
“Beside all these, the Officer was also alleged to have collected over one million Naira (1,000,000) for the purpose of issuance of fake appointment letters as well as collecting the sum of N250,000, N200,000 and N150,000 respectively for inserting the victims among the approved posting.
“The Officer in answer to a query letter issued to him by the Hospitals Management Board confessed to the crime. Therefore the Officer’s dismissal was approved with effect from 1st October, 2023,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Information Officer added that the light-hearted aspect of the sitting was the consideration of 37 Officers from four Ministries, Departments and Agencies – the Hospitals Management Board, Special School Management and Bauchi Radio Corporation, for promotion.
Umar said that among the candidates, three officers were recommended for appointment as Directors and one contract appointment.
He said: “Other 32 Candidates were upgraded as House Officers, Pharmacists, Nurses, Midwives, Radiographers and Physiotherapists.
“The Chairman of the Commission Alh. Abubakar Usman, IION, Madakin Bunun Bauchi who presided over the sitting reiterated the Commission’s consistency in the discharge of its assignment under his leadership.
“The Chairman who lamented what the dismissed Officer did was unbearable, described it as dishonest and called on job Seekers to be extra careful with such people.
“The Commission during the plenary advised the victims to get redress at the appropriate Agencies.”
