Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a traditional ruler, Mr Emmanuel Omanji, the Sangarin Dari in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State..
The traditional ruler was whisked away by his abductors who stormed his personal residence in Dari, near Garaku, the headquarters of Kokona local government area of the state between 11 to 11:30pm on Wednesday
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Dr. John W. Mamman, who held from Dari community, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone, saying the kidnappers in their large number stormed the palace, shot sporadically to scare people before taking him away.
The ugly development is coming barely three months after the traditional ruler was crowned a king by college of selectors and appointed by the Nasarawa State Government.
Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the development to our correspondent.
“I confirm that this incident happened yesterday, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has mobilized the commands anti kidnapping unit, the military, and Vigilante to conduct a search and rescue operation aimed at rescuing the victim and arrest the perpetrators”
“He further called on anyone with useful information that will assist the operation to volunteer same and assured them of utmost confidentiality” Nansel said.
