CDS Christopher Musa
By THOMAS AKASE, Makurdi –
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has arrived Yelwata town in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where scores were killed in a coordinated attack on Friday night.
The visit follows a series of brutal attacks on communities in the state by armed herders and bandits, leaving widespread destruction and displacement in their wake.
Musa’s visit aims to assess the security situation firsthand and meet with Governor Hyacinth Alia to discuss strategies to address the growing insecurity in the region.
During his visit, the CDS is expected to hold crucial meetings with security stakeholders to chart a way forward in tackling the crisis.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, is also expected in Benue for a working visit, signaling a joint effort by the military and police to restore peace and security in the state.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The recent attacks in Benue have raised concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in the state, and the visits by the CDS and IGP are seen as a proactive step to address the situation.
The people of Benue are hoping that these efforts will bring relief and restore peace to the troubled region.
