The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) will arraign the CEO of Qatar Airways, Temi Birdzell, and top officers on October 7 over allegations of breaching the FCCPC Act.
The defendants will face charges before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The FCCPC alleged that the defendants failed to comply with a lawful summons and intentionally withheld documents.
“The defendants were alleged to have failed to appear before FCCPC in compliance with a lawful summons… and thereby committed an offence,” the charge sheet reads.
The commission also accused the defendants of engaging in consumer rights contravention. The defendants include Stella Ihediwa, Account Manager; Kennedy Chirchir, Country Manager; and Eva Ojeje, Sales Manager.
The arraignment was initially scheduled for Tuesday but could not proceed due to improper service of court documents. The FCCPC lawyer, Chizenum Nsitem, sought an adjournment to enable proper service, and the judge adjourned the matter until October 7 for the defendants to take their plea.
The FCCPC had preferred a two-count charge against the defendants, alleging breaches of the FCCPC Act.
