Police Service Commission (PSC) has authorized the advancement of 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) and 188 additional officers to their subsequent ranks.
This is according to a statement released on Monday in Abuja by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations.
Ani detailed that the promotions included 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) elevated to CPs, 27 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) promoted to DCPs, and 145 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) advanced to ACPs.
He noted that the CPs were promoted to Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs).
However, one ACP slated for promotion was absent and thus not promoted, Ani added.
Additionally, Ani stated that the commission approved the promotion of 29 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to CSPs and 38 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to SPs, all of whom were specialists.
The 145 CSPs promoted to ACPs comprised both General Duty Police Officers and specialists, including those from the Airwing, as well as medical professionals such as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, lab scientists, physiotherapists, nurses, priests, and aircraft engineers.
The 12 CPs elevated to AIGs were named as Johnson Adenola, Ako Gabriel, Ahmadu Abdullahi, Emmanuel Aina, Omolara Oloruntola, Hassan Yababet, Bretet Simon, Enyinnaya Adiogu, Aminu Raji, Mohammed Usman, Festus Oko, and Ronke Okunade.
The 16 DCPs promoted to CPs included Uduak Ita, Sheikh Danko, Charles Dike, Nnana Ama, Gabriel Eliagwu, Abiola Olutunde, Yakubu Dankaro, Michael Falade, Aina Adesola, Umar Chuso, Emefile Osifo, Innocent Anagbado, Musa Sani, Victor Erivwode, Omoikhudu Philip, and Sylvester Edogbanya.
Ani explained that the promoted officers underwent rigorous examination and interview processes conducted by the commission.
He further noted that Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, Chairman of the Commission’s Standing Committee’s on Police matters, oversaw the promotion exercise and submitted the report to the commission’s Plenary for review and final approval.
