Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it is making significant strides in its ongoing recruitment drive to fill 3,927 vacancies across its Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres, with the next phase—a Computer-Based Test (CBT)—slated for September 14 to 21, 2025.
Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Maiwada said the exercise, launched with a public advertisement on December 27, 2024, has drawn an impressive 573,523 applications, showcasing widespread interest in joining the Service.
According to him, fter a thorough screening process, 286,697 candidates have been shortlisted to participate in the upcoming CBT, which will be conducted online to ensure accessibility and fairness.
“This recruitment is a testament to our commitment to building a skilled and diverse workforce”.
“We’re leveraging technology to make the process transparent and inclusive for all qualified Nigerians.” He said.
The CBT requires candidates to use a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and reliable internet, as the platform is not mobile-enabled. To maintain integrity, the system employs facial verification and is sensitive to noise or excessive movement, which could lead to automatic logout or disqualification.
“We urge candidates to adhere strictly to the guidelines and maintain focus during the test,” Maiwada advised.
“Our goal is to ensure a level playing field for everyone.”
To support applicants, the NCS has scheduled a mandatory pre-test exercise two days before the main CBT, allowing candidates to familiarize themselves with the platform. Shortlisted candidates will receive two links—one for the pre-test and another for the actual exam. Those applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will face an additional CBT in the next phase, unlike candidates for the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant roles.
The NCS emphasized its dedication to a merit-driven process, warning applicants to rely only on official channels for updates and to avoid fraudulent schemes.
“We will never ask for payments or conduct recruitment on social media,” Maiwada stressed.
“Our focus is on selecting the best candidates to strengthen our operations and serve the nation.”
The service said successful candidates will be informed of further stages through verified NCS platforms.
