Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has been voted English Premier League (EPL) Signing of the Season after a breakthrough campaign that made him one of the most talked-about arrivals in the division.
The Belgian shot-stopper topped a strong shortlist that included Joao Pedro, Granit Xhaka, Rayan Cherki, Adrien Truffert, Viktor Gyokeres, Antoine Semenyo and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Lammens made 32 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season, keeping eight clean sheets and making 79 saves as he grew into an important figure at Old Trafford.
Signed from Royal Antwerp, the 23-year-old was not really expected to take on that level of responsibility so early, but once he got his chance, he settled quickly and held his place.
His performances were built more on consistency than highlight moments. He stayed calm under pressure, handled his box well, and gave United a level of stability that had been missing at times.
His impact showed most in the bigger matches. Against Manchester City, Lammens was part of the Manchester United side that won 2-0 in the derby, making key saves in a tense game as United kept a clean sheet in one of their biggest results of the season. Across games against the traditional “Big Six”, he played 7 times, kept 3 clean sheets and made 18 saves.
The recognition, coming through a Premier League-associated awards poll, reflects how quickly he became an important part of United’s season.
He was up against a strong group of nominees, most of them attackers and midfielders who came into the league with more attention, but Lammens stood out for what he added at the back.
For Manchester United, his season has also been a reminder of how important stability in goal still is. After several seasons of uncertainty in that position, this one feels like a step towards solving it.
