Ten people have been killed in a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday evening at Tudun Sulubawa, close to Bara town in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
NATIONAL ACCORD learnt that the 18-seater Hummer Bus of the Kaduna state Transport Authority was heading to Gombe State from Kaduna when the accident occurred.
The driver of the said vehicle was trying to avoid a pothole when he lost control and veered off into the bush causing the tyre of the bus to pull out and somersaulted.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Assistant Corp Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the crash to our Correspondent, however said only four people were killed while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injured in the crash.
“The lone fatal crash was caused by tyre burst occurred on 28th March, 2021 by 6.00pm, at Tudun Sulubawa, 3kms away from the FRSC Bara office in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi State.
“The crash involved a Commercial vehicle, an 18-seater Toyota Hummer Bus belonging to the Kaduna state Transport Authority with vehicle number plate: KD 27 AZ.
“A total of 15 people, made up of eight male adults, two female adults, two male children and three female children, were involved in the crash.
“Our men from the Bara office were contacted and they rushed to the scene and rescued the victims and took them to hospital for treatment.
“Four people comprising of two male adults and two female adults, were confirmed dead. 10 people sustained varying degrees of injuries made up of seven male adults, two female adults and one male child,” he said.
He said that the injured were conveyed to the Gombe Specialist Hospital for medical attention, while the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the same hospital before they will be released to their loved ones for burial.
