41 dead, dozens injured in prison fire near Indonesian capital

No fewer than 41 people were killed and dozens of others wounded in a fire that broke out at a prison located in Tanggerang town near the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

It was learnt that the fire outbreak occured in the early hours of Wednesday, a police officer said.

The fire at the jail occurred at around 2:20 a.m. local time and was put out about over an hour later at Block C2, Jakarta police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus told Metro TV.
