In a stunning display of speed and skill, Nigeria’s 100m hurdles star Tobi Amusan clinched a silver medal with a time of 12.29 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), this marks Amusan’s first major medal since a challenging period following the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
“This silver is a testament to Tobi’s resilience and world-class talent,” NAN reported, noting that her performance was monitored in Lagos and signifies Nigeria’s first medal at the championships, held from September 13 to 21.

“It was a stacked race, and I’m thrilled to come out on top,” Kambundji said, as quoted by NAN.
