Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has flagged off construction of six vital rural roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), to improve rural infrastructure and strengthening agricultural productivity in the state.
The newly flagged-off road projects reflect the governor’s drive to improve rural transportation and support farmers who depend on reliable routes to move their produce to market.
Governor Mohammed explained that the selected roads were prioritized for their economic value and the urgent needs of the communities they serve. He noted that the RAAMP initiative aims to ease transport difficulties, strengthen agricultural activities, and boost the earning power of households in rural areas.
According to him, better road access will also help farmers cut down on post-harvest losses and expand trade between villages and urban centers.
The roads approved for construction include the 24km Lanzai–Papa Road, 14.45km Misau–Beti–Maladumba Road, 28km Gamawa–Sakwa Road, 14.75km Dargazu–Gambaki–Chinade–Gangai Road, 6.68km Yana–Faggo Road, and 6.6km Giade–Tagwaye Road.
He assured residents that each project will meet high construction standards, complete with adequate drainage and erosion-control systems. The governor also urged contractors to follow the approved specifications and meet deadlines.
Community leaders, farmer associations, and residents expressed gratitude for what they described as long-awaited development. They said the new roads will make transportation easier, cut travel expenses, and stimulate greater economic activity in their areas.
Many of the residents interviewed called the projects transformative, saying the improved access will open fresh opportunities for people across the benefiting communities.
