46th Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bassey Ewah
Mr. Bassey Ewah has officially assumed office as the 46th Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, promising to consolidate peace and enhance security across the state.
Ewah took over leadership of the Plateau State Police Command on Thursday, succeeding Mr. Emmanuel Adesina, who recently retired from active service.
Addressing officers and men of the command, the new commissioner emphasized that his tenure would focus on professionalism, diligence, and tangible improvements in security. “It will not be business as usual under my watch,” he said.
During his maiden press briefing in Jos, Ewah stated that his administration would build on existing peace initiatives while ensuring residents’ safety. He urged police personnel to be disciplined, professional, and proactive in tackling crime and pledged closer collaboration with communities to address emerging security challenges.
He further highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that the police would work alongside other security agencies to strengthen Plateau’s security architecture. “We will work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” Ewah affirmed.
Reaffirming his commitment to integrity and service, Ewah expressed confidence that stronger partnerships with communities and security agencies would help restore Plateau’s reputation as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”
