Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a public warning over a fake and unauthorized online platform circulating as an “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026,” urging Nigerians to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
In a notice posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Commission made it clear that the website being promoted for the purported recruitment exercise has no connection whatsoever with INEC. According to the Commission, the site — “okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Sta…” — is “FAKE and NOT affiliated with the Commission in any way.”
INEC cautioned that any information, statistics or application forms found on the fake portal are “false, misleading, and intended to deceive unsuspecting applicants.”

Clarifying the correct procedure, the electoral body stressed that recruitment of ad-hoc staff is carried out strictly through its official platform known as INECPRES. It emphasized that the only authentic links for the 2026 FCT Area Council Election ad-hoc staff recruitment are:
Web & iOS: pres.inecnigeria.org
Android (Mobile App): presmobile.inecnigeria.org
INEC warned that “any other website or link outside the above is NOT authorized by INEC.”
The Commission further advised prospective applicants to always verify recruitment information through INEC’s official channels, avoid clicking or registering on suspicious links, and refrain from submitting sensitive personal details such as BVN, passwords, OTPs or bank information on non-INEC platforms. Applicants were also urged to ensure that any genuine INEC website URL ends with inecnigeria.org.
For individuals who may have already registered on the fake portal, INEC advised them to discontinue immediately and reapply only through the official links provided by the Commission.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety and institutional integrity, INEC stated that it remains dedicated to “transparency, credibility, and the protection of the public from fraudulent activities.”
