Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani
Kaduna Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has commended Governor Uba Sani for strengthening the state’s judiciary and improving the administration of justice.
The association said the governor’s interventions in the judiciary had created a more conducive environment for judicial officers and would contribute to effective and timely justice delivery in the state.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Baba Lawal Aliyu, the NBA specifically appreciated the massive renovation and rehabilitation of the High Court complex, describing the development as a significant boost to the judiciary.
According to the association, the rehabilitation would enhance the working environment, mobility and overall performance of judicial officers.
The NBA also commended Governor Sani for providing 40 official vehicles to judges of the High Court, Shari’ah Court of Appeal and Customary Court of Appeal.
It further welcomed the restoration of the payment of robe allowance to magistrates, including the payment in 2025 of the outstanding 2024 robe allowance.
The association said the initiatives demonstrated the government’s recognition of the judiciary as a critical institution for sustaining the rule of law and ensuring effective justice delivery.
However, the NBA appealed to the governor to extend the provision of official vehicles to judicial officers in the lower courts and improve their facilities and general working conditions.
It stressed that magistrates and other judicial officers in the lower courts were at the frontline of justice delivery and therefore required adequate logistical and infrastructural support to perform their duties effectively.
The association added that sustained investment across all levels of the judiciary would enhance access to justice, reduce delays and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
