By OLA MUDOPE, Lagos –
The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako, has resigned from his position.
The state Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos.
He said: “the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has accepted the resignation of Mr. Salako.
“The resignation of Salako is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies”.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked him for his services and wished him success in his future endeavours.
“The governor warned all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are”, he said
Meanwhile, Mr. Salako’s resignation is coming barely few years after multiple building collapses were recorded in Nigeria’s commercial hub.

The most recent occurred on Sunday at Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lekki Area of Lagos State, where a seven-storey building under construction collapsed.
According to Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, South West Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),, about six persons have been confirmed dead while emergency responders are still trying to rescue the remaining trapped persons in the building.
He said the remote and immediate causes of the building’s collapse have yet to be ascertained.
But however, Mr. Salako while addressing the press disclosed that the developer was a powerful man. He recalled how the developer chased state officials away during enforcement.
He also disclosed that the developer broke the seal of the site on three separate occasions.
