By EZEKIEL OBI, Abuja –
Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), retired Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has denied reports that he was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
Buratai in a statement by his spokesman, Retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, described the reports as “mischievous and utterly false.”
Usman said, “This baseless rumor is a product of the reckless imagination of the purveyors of fake news, individuals whose sole aim is to malign him, spread fear, confusion, and misinformation.”
He condemned the fabricators of the fake news, calling them “deeply irresponsible.”
Usman clarified that Buratai celebrated Eid peacefully in Abuja with family, friends, and well-wishers, and has remained in the Federal Capital Territory since then.
“Truth will always prevail,” Usman said, adding that no amount of falsehood can tarnish Buratai’s image as a devoted servant of the nation.
Usman expressed gratitude to those who reached out with concerns and goodwill, saying, “Your overwhelming show of love and support is deeply cherished.”
