Nigeria Police Force has announced a nationwide pause on enforcing the law against vehicles with tinted windows.
This decision follows discussions with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement from the Police, the suspension will stay in place until a pending court case—set to be heard on October 16, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Warri—is resolved.
During the NBA’s visit to Louis Edet House, both institutions underscored the need for stronger collaboration in promoting the rule of law and rebuilding public trust.
A joint committee, comprising representatives from both the Police and the NBA, has been formed to pursue these goals.
In the meantime, vehicle owners are being encouraged to take advantage of the suspension period to update their documents and ensure full compliance with existing traffic regulations.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reiterated the Force’s dedication to enforcing the law fairly and transparently while maintaining open dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
