Nollywood star, Jim Iyke has ignited a heated discussion by stating that single mothers are not equipped to raise boys into “proper men” without the guidance of a male figure.
In a candid interview with Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana, Iyke emphasized the importance of a male presence in shaping a boy’s character.
“Women are naturally gifted at nurturing and loving, but raising a man requires a different kind of discipline that only a male figure can provide,” Iyke remarked.
He further argued, “A single mother cannot fully raise a boy into a proper man. You need a male influence—be it a father, brother, or trusted male figure—to be part of the process.”
Iyke warned that without this influence, boys may grow into “weak men,” potentially adopting the negative traits of the absent men in their mothers’ lives.
He stressed that a strong male role model is essential to instill resilience and discipline, sparking a broader conversation about gender roles in parenting.
