The newly elected Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has reaffirmed its total and unflinching loyalty to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) under the leadership of Barrister Kabiru Turaki.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Lagos PDP Exco-elect declared its full alignment with the Turaki-led national leadership, describing it as the only legitimate authority guiding the party toward renewal, discipline, and electoral resurgence.
According to the statement, the Lagos chapter is entering a new phase of strategic rebuilding anchored on unity, internal democracy, and grassroots mobilisation, while remaining firmly loyal to the national leadership.
Ibadan Convention: PDP Dismisses Alleged Court Nullification
The Lagos PDP also reacted strongly to what it described as misleading media reports suggesting that the party’s 2025 National Elective Convention held in Ibadan had been nullified by a court.
The Exco-elect dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious, insisting that the convention was validly conducted in strict compliance with the PDP Constitution.
The party maintained that the Ibadan convention remains a historic exercise that produced the current national leadership through the collective will of accredited delegates.
Describing reports of a court ruling as propaganda, the Lagos PDP urged members to disregard what it called “phantom rulings” allegedly being circulated to sow confusion and destabilise the party.
The statement further stressed that the legal team of the party remains alert and confident that the mandate freely given by the 2,745 accredited delegates at the convention cannot be overturned through what it termed “backdoor litigation.”
Commitment to Rebuilding Lagos PDP
Looking ahead, the Lagos State Exco-elect said it is fully committed to implementing the “Turaki Roadmap,” with emphasis on reconciliation, inclusiveness, and strengthening the party’s opposition role in the state.
The leadership assured that efforts are ongoing to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders across Lagos State in order to present a united and formidable PDP ahead of future elections.
Reaffirming the Exco-elect’s stance, the statement declared:
> **”Our mandate is sacred, and our alignment with the National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, is non-negotiable.
We will not be distracted by the antics of those who seek to profit from internal discord.”**
The party also called on PDP members and supporters in Lagos and across the country to remain steadfast, stressing that the PDP remains a collective platform greater than individual interests.
It added that under the present NWC, the party is firmly on course to being “returned to the people.”
