PDP Board Chairman commissions N330m general hospital in Bauchi

ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Walid Jibrin, has commissioned the newly constructed general hospital in Dambam town, Dambam LGA of Bauchi State, which was built by the state government at the cost of N330 million

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the newly commissioned hospital has 10 staff quarters constructed alongside the edifice for doctors and health workers,

In his speech while commissioning the project on Wednesday, Jibrin commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his achievements in various sectors since his emergence in 2019.

He expressed optimism that with Bala Mohammed as governor, Bauchi State would witness more infrastructural development.

“I believe, Bauchi State will never go backwards again. I want to appeal to the people of Bauchi State, to give the governor maximum support and cooperation always. It is my believe that this hospital that we are commissioning today, will not only be a place of treatment of the sick, but a center for training nurses and midwives. I hope that in future, it will be a center for training of young doctors”.

“I commend Bauchi State governor for providing this hospital for the improvement of the health of the state believing that this hospital will meet the needs of the people of Bauchi by curing many diseases. The hospital should be a reference for other hospitals and clinics throughout the country. I want to congratulate the governor for his hard work and concern for the health of the generality of the people of the state”.

He added that: “Very soon, we will hear from the governor what he intends to do and I assure you that the Members of the BOT are ready to support the governor on what he will do or say.”

Governor Bala Mohammed, in his speech, stated that “his administration in Bauchi has, since inception, lived up to the ideals that define the PDP as a people-oriented political party, a party that does not deceive, a party that does not delude, party that has provided all the infrastructure and services for the last 20 years and after it left, nothing has been added again”.

He said: “Health is wealth, we have therefore, being giving to the sector the priority it deserves. We are gathered here today to witness the commissioning of the general hospital, Dambam, as one of the attestations of our commitment of using small resources to do so much at the same time.

“Since we came onboard, we partnered with the Federal Government and renovated 192 healthcare facilities across the state and they are all functioning.

“When you go to our NSHIP hospitals, they have medical personnels, equipment and they have an independent drugs revolving fund to make sure that drugs are accessible to the common man at affordable prices.

“NSHIP also renovated about 12 hospitals. Another initiative was also added and sponsored by UNICEF where we were able to renovate and build 107 primary healthcare centres across the state.”

Governor Mohammed, however, said that 313 primary healthcare centres were renovated by the administration within the period of two and a half years.
