A coalition group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas of failing to fulfil promises made over nearly three years. The group also endorsed Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, former Wukari/Ibi federal constituency representative, for the 2027 governorship election.
At a press conference in Jalingo, the coalition said Taraba State has been neglected, its people short-changed, and its future mismanaged.
They described Taraba as an example of wasted potential, citing ample resources and federal allocations, yet ongoing stagnation.
“The administration has failed across key sectors: infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, youth employment, and economic development.
“Roads are abandoned, and hospitals lack drugs, equipment, and basic services. Civil servants are demoralised, and youth unemployment is rising without a clear government response.
“Governance has become media spectacle and propaganda, with no development blueprint, legacy, or accountability as citizens’ hardship increases.
The group argued the government cannot defend its record or justify seeking another term, adding that Tarabans now demand performance, competence, and honesty over empty slogans.
“The 2027 governorship poll, they said, will be a referendum on failure versus progress.
It is a choice between failed promises and proven incompetence, or courageous, competent leadership.
They insisted Taraba cannot afford four more years of excuses and failed leadership, nor can the future be sacrificed for sentiment or political convenience.
Following consultations across Taraba’s 16 local governments, the ADC coalition unanimously endorsed Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship race.
