The Kingdom Mandate, By LINDA ASIMOLE ELLAH

The kingdom which is being referred to here is the Kingdom of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Every king enjoys preeminence in his Kingdom and he has the authority to establish a government or a rulership that portrays his vision and mission.

Going straight to the point, the mandate here is as Jesus commanded, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Mathew 28:18-20.  Hence, everyone who is part of that kingdom is expected to obey the mandate.

The mandate of God’s kingdom is first of all a personal call to personal repentance and change of life; from a life of sin and living in the flesh to living God’s own life – life in Christ Jesus. In this way, the believer partakes in establishing the ways of God within himself and then s/he can fulfill the mandate on his/her life to go out and preach the gospel to everyone in every village, community, city, town and nation.

You and I, and every believer are called to key into that kingdom and to be a part of Christ’s marvelous light shining in darkness and positively influencing and transforming humanity. Only then can a believer personally fulfill the mandate to teach others about the kingdom of God and how it can transform their lives, while preparing them for heaven. This is how the kingdom of God gets established on earth as more and more people begin to carry the light of Jesus in their very own lives.

Believers living the life of the Kingdom of God also get to know their gifts, calling and ministries. As we find in Ephesians 4:11-12, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”

Thus, the government of heaven can be established on earth through born again believers, ardent followers of the crucified and resurrected Jesus. This, however, must be a focus in their life, so that irrespective of their careers, spheres of influence, positions, status, and industry, they are able to reflect Jesus’ values, ways, principles, virtues, and the spiritual fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

From the rising of the sun to its setting, the believer, through his/her life, is endowed with the grace to bring the presence of heaven to earth, by living the life of someone who belong to a kingdom that is not of this world – the heavenly kingdom.

There was also the mandate to: be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and to have dominion. Since “Adam fell short of it when he disobeyed God thereby losing his authority to rule and his connection with heaven,” Jesus came to restore man’s lost glory and renewed the lost mandate through the way of the cross (rccuk.org).
