
Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Kanran
Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Remi, widely recognized as ‘Chief Kanran,’ has passed away, as announced by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi on Instagram.
According to Oloketuyi, the actor died on Friday morning.
Renowned for portraying affluent characters, Chief Kanran began his professional acting career in 1975.
He took on the role of Kurunmi in the play of the same name by Prof. Ola Rotimi. His early screen appearances included roles in the TV series _“Mirror in the Sun”_ marking his shift from stage to screen.
Kanran gained prominence for his performance in *Langbodo*, Nigeria’s dramatic entry at Festac ’77, held at the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
He also portrayed a businessman in the soap opera *Images* and appeared as Alaafin Kanran in a drama aired on Lagos Television on October 1, 1988.
