By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
A constitutional lawyer, Mr. Fidelis Onyebueke, has charged Nigerians to vote the country back to themselves by choosing a right candidate during the forthcoming elections.
Reacting to the current crisis in the banking and petroleum industries in the country, Onyebueke noted that if a weak and corrupt person succeeds Buhari, there will be more problems in the country.
Onyebueke in a chat in a with our correspondent in Calabar, said that only a person with character, integrity, prudence and manager of economy, such as the former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, should be considered for the top job.
He blamed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for not taking steps to ensure that enough funds are in circulation and punishing those he called saboteurs even as he supports the redesign of the naira notes.
Describing the present situation as frustrating, Mr. Onyebueke, who is also The President of People’s Club of Nigeria, a socio- cultural organization, said that it is not the Nigerian president that is the cause but the operators of the system.
He also explained that it is the managers of the banks that have caged the CBN, calling on the Nigerian electorates to embark on a revolution if the situation does not improve.
He said: “The monetary and the fuel crisis in the country will equally affect the forthcoming elections, for people may not be able to travel home during the period or even move to polling units while the elections lasted”
As the new president of the Peoples Club, Mr. Onyebueke said that he will use committees to run the club and his present position to enhance unity, wellbeing of members and equally organize social activities, help the poor and do charity for people.
