2023: We need competent leaders with capacity not zoning – Sen. Adede

Senator Musa Adede

By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

Ahead of the 2023 general elections and governorship primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Musa Adede has warned party stakeholders that Cross River State is already a failed state and does not need to sacrifice competent for zoning.

“In my view this is the time we must have a paradigm shift, we must as a people encouraged good governance, moral values, let’s us collectively search for people with capacity and God fearing, let’s us look at individuals, not party or zones to lead us, Cross River must look for credible people not zones”.

Senator Adede, a former lawmaker representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District stated this during the weekend at a PDP stakeholders summit with the theme, “Resetting Cross River for Recovery and Growth”.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the summit discussed several issues including the poor economic situation in the state and associated problems such as leadership and politics.

The former lawmaker, however, noted that “Every successive administration since 1999, as soon as they get into office, they did not recognize the opinions of elders and stakeholders, they behave as if they know everything, no continuity”.

“That is why I am not surprised that Tinapa has failed, Obudu Ranch Resort has failed, 275km super Highway is not going to take place, the Bakassi Deep Seaport is not going to take place”.

“As a party, there’s no opposition, this idea we are a family, nothing works in the state because we choose people, we anoint people who are not fit for position of leadership, we throw away character and morality” he lamented

Senator Adede, further said that within 22 years of our democracy, the state has been taken aback in terms of development.

“If we are to use Industrialization as a yardstick for development, we have grounded everything both industries that we inherited”. He said.

Some of the governorship aspirants from the zone who attended the summit included – Senator Gershom Bassey, Nkoyo Toyo, Efiok Cobham, Daniel Asuquo, Emma Nsa Coco Bassey, among others.
