2023: We will salvage what APC leaves behind when we regain power – PDP

ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said that when it regains power in the 2023 general elections, it would salvage whatever remains from what the All Progressives Congress leaves behind.

It also berated the APC led government for failing to deliver on its promise to tackle insecurity in the country within six months of being in office.

The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said this in a speech at a dinner organized by the Bauchi State Government for the governors during their meeting in the state on Sunday night.

He said that instead of tackling the Boko Haram menace upon which basis it seized power from the PDP in 2015, more “boko harams” have emerged in its six years administration.

Tambuwal who was represented by the Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, said that the PDP has the capacity to remove Nigeria from the quagmire the APC has thrown it into.

He said: “We have no hope except in PDP. We will live in PDP and salvage whatever the country is left off when we regain power in 2023. If you look around, all the PDP states are where there is work ongoing and I am sure I am speaking the facts and the minds of many Nigerians.

“And those who are running and leaving PDP to where the sins are forgiven, so if you are a bad and corrupt man, you come over to APC where your sins are forgiven.

“We do not believe and agree in intimidation, we will remain in PDP, we will capture the power and we will change Nigeria, we will improve Nigeria.

“Those who said they were going to conquer and remove Boko Haram in six months, six years now, they are still there, they cannot do it, it (insecurity) is getting worse. It is now several boko harams not one boko haram, it’s herdsman boko, it’s herdsman haram, it’s everything. Everything is happening.

“We will come and remove and make Nigeria what it should be: the pride of Africa. Nigeria is a big and beautiful country, very colourful. Imagine people living when we have absolute peace.”

He said that in the past during the PDP administration, people could travel freely without anybody stoping or attacking them.

“I assure you that we will do it again when you give us the mandate, we are all coming back in 2023. And we assure you that this time for real that in six months, we will change the terrain, we will change the narratives, we will make Nigerians happy,” he promised.

In his address, Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, said that the PDP is the only party that is united and well experienced to take Nigeria out of the blues.

He said: “PDP has done it before, we have all the structures that are required and we have the experience from 1999 to date. And that is why I must thank our leaders, the ranking governors for bringing this initiative where we are going from state to state, zone to zone to discuss our problems and challenges and the problems of governance.”

On the recent defections from the party into the APC, Mohammed said that those who defected are either chasing something or something is chasing them.

“I know there have been a spate of prevalence of defections that have worried so many people, those that must go must go. They are either pursuing something or something is pursuing them. So, if they go, it may be better off for us.

“For some of us you see here today, there is no where to go to, PDP is the answer because PDP is the only answer for Nigeria. We believe in good governance and not in lies or passing the bulk of blame game. Time will come when we will give account for ourselves, in terms of accountability.

“Some of us have had to carry the cross of the previous administrations on our heads and others will also do the same thing but what I am saying is that, with the array of intellectuals here, that even at the Governors’ Forum, the normally determine the decision of what should b done in the corporate governance of Nigeria.

“We’re together and we will continue to give PDP leadership and I am happy that our being here is an attestation of that,” he stated.
