Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has announced he will no longer contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State, despite mounting pressure from supporters.
In a 10-minute video message delivered in Hausa, Pate said his decision followed careful reflection and extensive consultations with key stakeholders.
He cited his ongoing national responsibilities as the primary reason, noting that he still has much to offer Nigeria and the northern region at the federal level.
“It is unlikely that I will run for governorship in 2027, and I assure you that you will not regret the love and support you have shown me throughout this period,” he said.
While stepping aside from the race, Pate pledged to remain politically engaged and back credible aspirants during the party’s primary process.
“There are many aspirants seeking various elective positions in Bauchi State… We will identify the best candidates during the primaries,” he added, urging unity among contenders.
He also promised to work for the success of the All Progressives Congress in the state, thanking his supporters and vowing to continue delivering impactful service.
