The Palestine Embassy in Nigeria has said it is outraged by the sheer brutality and violation of human rights perpetrated by the Israeli military against Palestinians.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the latest figures indicate that the death toll has surpassed 41,272, with over 95,551 injuries and more than 10,000 Palestinians still missing. The World Health Organization has also reported that a quarter of those injured in Gaza have life-changing injuries requiring rehabilitation services.
Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, said in a statement on Thursday, that the Israeli military in a despicable move, has been recruiting African asylum seekers for life-threatening operations in Gaza in exchange for permanent legal status.
Mr. Shawesh said this is a clear violation of human rights and exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
He said the United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution to impose sanctions and an arms embargo on Israel, demanding an end to its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory within 12 months.
“I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for its continued support and vote in favor of this resolution along with 123 other countries.
“We urge the international community to continue to stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination and an end to Israel’s deadly occupation. The edifice of international law is at a critical juncture, and it is imperative that states take meaningful steps to comply with their international obligations.
“We remember the assassination of UN peace mediator Count Folke Bernadotte at the hands of a Jewish militia gang called Lehi 76 years ago. It is a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for peace and justice in the region.
“We will continue to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people and demand an end to Israel’s colonial interests. We urge everyone to join us in this fight for justice and humanity.
