Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu
PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Ahead of the 2023 general election in Cross River State, over 41 support groups have called on the former lawmaker representing Southern Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Otu to contest for governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The leader of the support groups, Boniface Okache, made the call on Thursday while addressing a press conference in Calabar.
Mr Okache said: “It is with deepest promptness that we the support groups of Senator Bassey Otu ,restate our loyalty to our leader Governor Ben Ayade. We wish to seize this opportunity to state that as a group we gave our governor our mandate and upon that mandate we stand with him till 2023”.
“Despite the challenges facing Cross River State, we the different support groups of Senator Bassey Otu, having notice the prolong period of silence, call on Senator Bassey Otu to make an assertive declaration to aspire and contest for the position of Governor in the forthcoming election”.
He noted that Senator Otu is synonymous with human capital empowerment and development, he is today adjudged the best and most acceptable personality in the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State that will guaranty victory for APC in 2023.
He alos noted that the lawmaker, while in parliament, sponsored several bills which are now Acts of of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Having x-rayed his sterling qualities and overwhelming acceptability across all the the eighteen local government Area’of Cross River State, we make bold to call on him to declare for the position of Governor in the forthcoming elections”, the leader of the group said.
