Ebonyi PDP Governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii
Dr Ifeanyichukwu Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi governorship candidate says he will triumph over the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s poll, in spite of the endorsement of Anyim Pius Anyim.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anyim, a former PDP presidential aspirant on March 15, endorsed the APC candidate, Chief Francis Nwifuru in spite of being in another party.
Anyim urged his people to vote for Nwifuru because it was the turn of the northern senatorial district to govern and not the south.
Odii while reacting to the development on Thursday, said that Anyim’s endorsement was personal.
“The endorsement is a matter of choice and we are not deterred because we are with the people.
“We are talking about one individual in this case but the people are the confidence we have.
“The larger part of the society is what matters but the truth is that we are in a contest,” he said.
He said that he was not contesting for one person to vote for him but for the people to vote him to power.
“Such endorsement is not a problem to us at all as you can see that I am meeting the people.
“I am meeting civil servants, market women, artisans among others on how to recover Ebonyi.
“The people who make such endorsements are part of the problems we have as they know that I am a brand.
“I am contesting to offer service and they know that my presence has made the elections in the state intense,” he said.
Odii dismissed the notion that the APC was luring several henchmen of the opposition to its side, saying that the PDP was equal to the task.
“We do not make noise and are capable of doing whatever the opposition does,” he said. (NAN)
