Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned Monitoring, Evaluation and Special Projects Zonal Office in Bama town on Monday as part of efforts in facilitating the commencement of construction, rehabilitation and development process of new phase of governments post insurgency rebuilding process and transformation plan .
The governor disclosed plans to erect one thousand tents in Nguro Soye to enable people of the area resettle in their community while stressing governments readiness to close down the remaining IDPs camps in the state capital Maiduguri to enable people return to their ancestral homes and continue with their normal life.
He noted that all the Zonal Offices of the Department of Monitoring, Evaluation and Special Projects are under the Governor’s Office located in Biu and Monguno for Borno South and Borno North respectively while that of Bama is for Borno Central alongside the one in Maiduguri are to serve as the State Head Offices specifically for the purpose of speeding up the reconstruction of destroyed communities.
Zulum also had a closed door meeting with the leadership of the military formation in Bama Battalion Headquarters Bama and later inspected the ongoing road construction work along Maiduguri -Bama road where he commended the quality of work done and directed construction of shoulders on the highways.
While at the Shehu of Bama , HRH, Umar Ibn Kyari Umar Ibrahim El Kanemi’s palace, Zulum said that the state government intends to commence rebuilding works on residential structures in Bama that were not rebuilt in the previous exercise and that after the ongoing project in Nguro Soye, the state government in collaboration with the military will also resettle communities such as Maimti, Aulari Mankellumuri ,Darajamal Kumshe and Tarmuwa .
He expressed gratitude to the Shehu of Bama for the hospitality and for living among his people in Bama which he said has encouraged other citizens to come back home.
Responding, the Shehu of Bama , HRH, Umar Ibn Kyari Ibrahim Umar El kanemi thanked the governor for his concern and and support to his subjects and communities development.
He expressed his appreciation for his concern to Bama Emirate and prayed Allah to guide and protect him in all his endeavours.
