
A cross section of the beneficiaries

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off a 3-day training of 50 unemployed youths in its Small Stock (Goat) Production Training Scheme (SSGPTS) in Calabar Cross River State.
In his keynote address at the orientation exercise, the Director General of the NDE Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo reiterated the goal of the Directorate which is geared towards poverty reduction,.employment generation and wealth creation.
He also informed the audience that in achieving this objective, the NDE has over the years articulated job creation programs through skills acquisition that will lead to employment generation and wealth creation.
The Director General, who was represented by the state coordinator of the NDE, Mr Udam Gabriel Ugbashi added that the scheme is being implemented in 11 states of the federation simultaneously.
He urged the beneficiaries to give the program the seriousness that it deserves in order to justify the huge investment of the Federal Government on the scheme.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Coordinator of NDE, Mr Udam Gabriel whose welcome address was read by the Head of Department of Rural Employment promotions of NDE Cross River State, Mr Michael Agim Ugbong, informed the beneficiaries that the Small Stock Goat production training is one of the many schemes implemented by the department with the aim of empowering the youths with the requisite knowledge to undertake Agriculture as a business.
He added that they will given a very rigorous training on goat production in Nigeria in general and Cross River state in particular.
In his goodwill message, the Director, Rural Employment Promotions, NDE Headquarters Abuja, Mr Edem Duke told the beneficiaries that they should consider themselves lucky to be selected from the larger youth population to benefit from the training.
The Director, who was represented by a staff from the Department, Mrs Blessing Mbiabo Owan urged the beneficiaries to pay attention to the training in order to ensure that the goal of the training is achieved.
