The First Lady of Borno State, Dr. Falmata Babagana Zulum has commended the efforts of the children in acknowledging their resilience and potentials.
She also noted that her husband’s administration has made significant strides to ensure that children are not left behind, recognizing them as the backbone of the state’s future.
Dr. Zulum stated this Monday during an event to mark the 2024 World Children’s Day celebration, which was held at the Multi purpose hall of the Government House Maiduguri.

The event, which was organized by the Borno State First Lady in collaboration with the Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and CP AoR Partners, is with the theme,” “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child Through Quality Education and Skills Development.”
She listed various schools that have been built and reconstructed under Governor Zulum led administration, in addition to the ongoing efforts to provide qualified and well trained teachers through continuous training and retraining programmes.
She assured that this administration would continue to prioritize education and wellbeing of children as well as women in the state while praising the state’s Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Zuwaira Gambo, for her steadfast dedication, support to women and children in the state.

In her welcome address, the Commissioner spoke on the significant role of Governor Zulum in addressing out-of-school children and health among others while emphasizing his dedication to the wellbeing and education of children in the state.
Hon. Zuwaira also commended the governor for his unwavering commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for Borno youths.
Goodwill messages were delivered by key stakeholders including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, representatives from UNICEF, the CP AoR Coordinator, Save the Children, and the Women Led Organization.
The Borno State Children Parliament Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bukar Ali Satomi also emphasized on the need for voices and aspirations of the children to be heard and achieved.
Highlights of the event include a round table discussion where children engaged in meaningful dialogues about their future, followed by cultural dances from the Margi and Fulani groups, Kanuri, Babur Bura, and other communities to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Borno State. Gifts were also presented to the participants at the event.
