The Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development (ALFOPED), a non-governmental organization, has trained and graduated 33 women detainees in cosmetology skills, including liquid soap making, bar soap making, air freshener, mentholated balm, and disinfectants.
The three-day training was held at the Joint Investigation Center (JIC) in Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri, in collaboration with the JIC and the Nigerian military.

The Executive Director of the foundation, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, emphasized the importance of empowering women with skills to make a positive impact in their lives and society.
Hajiya Allamin appreciated the military leadership for approving the initiative and the JIC Commandant for opening up the facility for the training.
She said the training aims to prepare the women detainees for reintegration into society and provide them with a means of livelihood. According to her, the skills acquired will also help them to become productive and responsible members of their communities.

The Commander of JIC, Colonel A. U. Ahmed, commended ALFOPED for their immense contribution to the rehabilitation of the detainees and appreciated the collaboration between the foundation and the Nigerian military.
He assured that the efforts will be sustained and looked forward to more collaboration.
The Theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, JTF North East, Theater Command Headquarters, Maj Gen Wahidi Shaibu, represented by Navy Captain Mohammed A Abdullahi, appreciated the organizer, ALFOPED, and acknowledged its support and assistance to both the Nigerian Army and victims of the conflict.

Maj. Gen. Shaibu highlighted the significance of the non-kinetic approach to counter-insurgency and the importance of empowering women with skills for a positive impact.
