Gyang Zi, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), distributed cash and food items to more than 400 widows and persons with disabilities across Plateau North Senatorial District as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups facing economic hardship.
The beneficiaries were drawn from six local government areas of Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Jos North, Jos South, Jos East and Riyom.
Items distributed included rice, palm oil, groundnut oil and cash support.
Speaking during the distribution exercise in Jos, Director-General of the Gyang Zi Campaign Organisation, Chief Kado Awul, said the intervention reflected the humanitarian disposition of the legal practitioner and politician towards vulnerable members of society.
He said widows and persons with disabilities deserved support and inclusion, particularly at a time when many families were battling economic challenges.
“People with special needs and widows remain important members of society and should not be abandoned. Barrister Gyang Zi believes in reaching out to vulnerable persons and giving them hope. This support is meant to assist them in meeting some of their immediate needs and to let them know that they are not forgotten” he said.
He disclosed that over 240 widows and about 150 persons with disabilities benefited from the gesture.
Awul also urged APC members in Plateau North to participate actively in the party’s activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that greater participation would strengthen internal democracy within the party.
Gyang Zi is among aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Plateau North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
Leader of persons with disabilities, Mr Joseph Amakson, commended Gyang Zi for identifying with vulnerable groups, saying the intervention would help ease the burden on many beneficiaries.
Also speaking on behalf of the widows, Ngo Kaneng Tonji appreciated the support and urged political leaders to remain accessible to the people after elections and not only during campaign periods.
