Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed that its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Kano.
The meeting took place on Thursday night at Obasanjo’s temporary residence in the ancient city, according to a statement shared by the party on its official X handle on Friday.

Kwankwaso was accompanied by the NDC’s governorship candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
While the party did not disclose the purpose of the meeting or the issues discussed, it described the visit as a courtesy call.

In its post, the NDC stated: “His Excellency Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential Candidate of our party, paid a courtesy visit last night to the elder statesman and former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, at his temporary residence in Kano.
“Sen. Kwankwaso was accompanied by His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, our party’s Governorship Candidate for Kano State.”

Although no further details were provided, the visit comes at a time when political consultations and engagements are gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with major political figures holding strategic meetings across the country.
