Vinicius Junior continued his impressive form at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, scoring twice as Brazil defeated Scotland 3-0 to finish top of Group C with a perfect record.
The Real Madrid forward opened the scoring in the seventh minute before adding his second in first-half stoppage time to put Brazil firmly in control. The brace took his tally to five goals in three matches and made him the first Brazilian player since Ronaldo and Rivaldo at the 2002 World Cup to score in all three group-stage games.
Matheus Cunha completed the victory in the 60th minute, netting his third World Cup goal as Brazil wrapped up another convincing performance ahead of the knockout rounds.
The night also belonged to Neymar, who made his long-awaited return to the Seleção after 981 days away from the national team.
The appearance marked the 34-year-old’s first outing for Brazil since October 2023 and saw him feature at his fourth FIFA World Cup, having previously represented the five-time world champions at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments.
Brazil head into the knockout stage with maximum points from their three group matches, boosted by Vinicius’ rich vein of form and the return of Neymar as they continue their pursuit of a sixth World Cup title.
