
Governor Zulum receiving a cheque from the representative of the First Lady, Hajiya Nana Shettima

The First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Oluremi Bola Tinubu, represented by Mrs. Nana Kashim Shettima, Wife of the Vice President, paid sympathy visits to the Shehu of Borno, HRH, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Umar Ibn El Kanemi, at his palace and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State at the Government House in Maiduguri.
She commiserated with the people and government of Borno State over the recent flood disaster that ravaged 80% of the state capital, Maiduguri, and its environs.

The First Lady prayed for God’s alleviation of the sufferings and hardships of the people and requested wisdom and courage for the government to support and assist the victims of the incident. She also announced a donation of N500 million to support the victims of the flood disaster.

The visit was accompanied by other dignitaries, including wives of governors, ministers, and lawmakers.
Governor Umar Dikko Rada of Katsina State led a delegation, including the Emir of Daura, HRH, Alhaji Umar Farouq, and announced a donation of N100 million to support the victims.

Additionally, the Executive Chairman of MMC and ALGON Borno State, Hon Ali Umar Bolori led all 27 LGA Executive Chairmen on sympathy and condolence visits to Governor Zulum and announced a donation of N50 million each, totaling N1.35 billion.

Nigerian artistes from the North, led by Alhaji Rara, Chairman of 1313 Kannywood, also paid sympathy visits and donated N10 million to support the victims. Rara and his team spent three days in Maiduguri, cooking and sharing food for IDPs to cushion their sufferings and hunger.
Governor Zulum appreciated the visits and donations, assuring judicious utilization of the funds. He promised to continue being honest and transparent in all dealings and transactions.
