Cross River State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Joseph Toby has disclosed that it is the intention of the Command to reduce road traffic injuries at least by 10 percent
Also, the command is ready to reduce fake and illegal plates numbers to the bearest minimum.
Mr. Toby disclosed this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit while addressing journalists at the Earnest Etim Bassey Press Centre Calabar.
The sector commander promised that his men would work towards achieving the set goals
He said: “Today, no doubt will mark a new phase in the synergestic relationship between the FRSC and the NUJ especially in Cross River Stat
“The FRSC is saddled with the responsibility of making the Nigeria roads safe for all road users.
“To achieve this mandate, the Corps has strategically engaged several tools to ensure successful delivery and implementation.
“These include but not limited to: Enlightenment and education. To inform and sensitise the motoring public on traffic regulations, safe road use as well as programmes and policies of the Corps.
“The Corp also seeks to achieved a 10% reduction in Road Traffic policy thrust put forward by the Corps Marshal on assumption
“This has resulted in improved productivity, conforming totally with the Renewed Hope agenda of the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our amiable and Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, whose agenda of sweetness is evident across the state.
“The role of the media cannot be over emphasised in the quest of the FRSC to successfully deliver on it’s mandate. This is is because the activities of the media,as coordinated by the NUJ has the power to reach more persons through print and electronic means,with the right information from the FRSC to eliminate issues related to misinformation.
“Therefore, adequate information disseminated to the motoring public on trending Road safety issues such as the clamp down on fake and illegal number plate,an ongoing nation wide exercise as well as the FRSC mobile App which every road user should have is desired of the media to secure greater publicity and eventually compliance.
“May I once again appreciate the NUJ Cross River State chapter and its leadership as led by an amazing amazon, Archibong Bassey for this opportunity to meet with gentlemen of the fourth estate of the realm and the support so far enjoyed. Road safety is a shared responsibility
Earlier, the Council Chairman, Comrade Archibong Bassey promised to partnered the FRSC in its activities in the state
