Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has begun the mobilisation of funds to contractors for the construction of 600 houses in six local government areas.
The project is the 600 housing scheme for teachers in 5 LGAs which was flagged off in March is aimed at reducing the housing deficit faced by teachers across the state.
It could be recalled that the committee inaugurated by Governor Zulum through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) is also to oversee several major development projects.
The project includes: the construction of 600 unit housing estates in Biu, Gubio, Hawul, Askira Uba and Magumeri Local Government Areas as well at the Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital and Rumirgo livestock improvement and settlement in Borno state.
During the inauguration, the SSG said the committee was established to monitor the above construction projects with the committee members appointed based on experience and merit, chaired by the Commissioner Ministry for Local government and emirate affairs Hon Sugun Mai Mele and the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Hon Engr Mustapha Gubio as the Co-Chairman with Alh Mustapha Kori as Secretary and other members of the committee.
The committee chairman warns the contractors that timely delivery with quality and standard base on specifications will be monitored and urged that the committee will not relent in its efforts to ensure standard and timely delivery .
