The Borno State Government has sworn in five new Permanent Secretaries to enhance the state’s public service delivery.
The appointees are Alhaji Adamu Isa Abadam, Alhaji Aja Gana Bukar, Hajiya Yabawa Kolo, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha, and Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi Hassan.
Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, who administered the oath of office, emphasized that the appointments are part of a broader reform initiative aimed at eliminating redundant positions and promoting efficiency in policy formulation and execution. He urged the new Permanent Secretaries to align with the state’s 25-Year Development Plan and 10-Year Strategic Transformation Initiative, built on principles of sustainability, equity, and inclusivity.
The Deputy Governor charged the appointees to remain committed to excellence, integrity, and accountability, and to work closely with their Commissioners and subordinate staff. “You must report for duty timely and work tirelessly to ensure that our State’s development plans are implemented effectively and efficiently,” he said.
Borno State Head of Service, Dr. Muhammad Aminu Ghuluze, noted that the Governor’s decision to appoint the Permanent Secretaries was in recognition of their contributions to the public service, despite the usual requirement of passing a prescribed examination.
On behalf of the new Permanent Secretaries, Hajiya Yabawa Kolo thanked Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for the appointment and promised to live up to expectations. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top government officials, families of the appointees, and other dignitaries.
