A coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Sokoto State has vehemently condemned the abduction and brutal killing of 4-year-old Ayman Abubakar, demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice and face the full weight of the law.
The Child Protection Network and the Sokoto State Gender-Based Violence Response Team, led by Alhaji Abdulganiyu Abubakar, National President of Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse, and Labour (NACTAL), described the act as heinous and barbaric.
Representing NACTAL, Sokoto State Coordinator Mr. Rufus Yogkong called on the relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased child. No parent should endure such unimaginable pain and sorrow. It’s imperative that those responsible for this dastardly act are apprehended and prosecuted, he said.
The group commended the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing investigation, appealing for transparency, thoroughness, and prompt prosecution of suspects.
They also requested regular updates on the case to keep the public informed. “We urge the police to expedite their investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice. The family and the public deserve closure and assurance that such incidents won’t recur.”
The CSOs emphasized the urgent need for stronger child protection frameworks across schools, places of worship, and communities, prioritizing Nigerian children’s safety and security.
“Justice for this young child is justice for all. We’ll monitor this case closely and stand in solidarity with the family in their pursuit of justice. We won’t relent until the perpetrators are brought to book.”
