Bauchi State is hosting a 3-day National Annual Conference of 36 states’ Fire Service Directors and chiefs.
The 2025 annual conference,.the 4th in the current series is to review states’ performances, proffer solution to teething issues in tandem with prevailing technologies and plan for future services.
In a welcome remark to the fire chiefs, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed assured that he will strengthen operations of the state Fire Service.
He also said 10 new fire sub-stations have been created in the state with 3 in each Senatorial Zone for effective service delivery,
Governor Mohammed, who was represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, disclosed that his administration has strengthened fire safety regulations by making and enforcing laws that promote fire safety standards in public facilities,
He further said advance training, repair of firefighting equipment, recruitment, and renovation of recreational facilities at state fire service headquarters have been provided.
“The need to prevent and fight fire out break and other emergencies that require the service of Fire fighters cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, there is need to strengthen the capacity of our fire fighters and boost their morale for effective and efficient discharge of their duties”.
“Also government has increased allowances of Fire Service personnel to motivate and encourage them to perform their duty diligently.
To the Fire bosses,participants, the Governor urged them to impart the knowledge they would share during the conference to their subordinates at their various work stations for enhanced performance
Earlier, Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management,Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wank praised Bauchi state government for hosting the conference and sued for synergy among stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.
Chairperson of Association of States Fire Service Chiefs and Directors, Mrs Margaret A. Adeseye informed that, the annual national conference of Fire Service Chiefs and Directors was aimed to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations at federal and state levels by sharing experiences and knowledge.
Among highlights of the event were the awards for contributions to fighting service by previous leaders, the commissioner and the governor.
