Bauchi State Police Command has described a trending video on social media as misleading and an attempt to discredit the command.
The video, which portrays motorcyclists disseminating misinformation, has the potential to incite fear, confusion, and unrest within the state.
According to the Command’s Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, “Posting offensive and defamatory content and disseminating false information constitute a provocation of public disorder and violations of safety regulations.”
He said: “On June 5, 2025, a police patrol unit encountered an incident along Tulu Road Bauchi involving a group of motorcyclists allegedly traveling to Kibiya Rano Local Government Area, Kano State, for Sallah.
“When asked to stop for public safety, one motorcyclist, Ladan Haruna, refused to obey and sped away, resulting in a collision and serious injuries to both Haruna and his passenger, Ibrahim Abubakar.
“Other motorcyclists reacted aggressively, inflicting physical harm on Police Officer Inspector Salisu Adamu.
He said the police dispatched a reinforcement to support the patrol unit and restore order.
The injured were taken to Rishi Primary Health Care Center.
CSP Wakil emphasized the importance of cooperation with law enforcement officers and adherence to traffic regulations.
The Bauchi State Police Command appeals to individuals to cooperate with law enforcement officers and adhere to traffic regulations.
“Cooperation with security personnel is essential for fostering safer road conditions for all,” CSP Wakil stated.
“We encourage all road users to exercise caution and demonstrate respect during interactions with security personnel.”
