The film’s producer, Blessing Uzzi, announced the release date in a post on her Instagram page.
“Freedom Way” tells the story of nine strangers grappling with personal struggles as harsh government policies disrupt their lives, forcing them to make moral dilemmas for survival. The film sheds light on pressing issues facing Nigerians, such as corruption, police brutality, political oppression, and economic insecurity, and their impact on the youth.
The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Debo Adedayo (‘Mr Macaroni’), Femi Jacobs, Mike Afolarin, Bimbo Akintola, and Teniola Aladese, among others. Jacobs’ performance in the film earned him the Best Film and Best Writing awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
“Freedom Way” has already made waves at international film festivals, winning the Special Jury Award at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, New York African Film Festival, and Red Sea International Film Festival.
