Man on handcuff
The Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, has arrested the suspected killer of Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was paraded alongside 31 other individuals arrested for various crimes across the state.
According to Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, State Commander, Amotekun Corps, the suspect confessed to the crime and led the operatives to the forest where the body of the deceased was recovered.
“We have handed the body and items over to the family,” Adeleye said.
Adeleye noted that in the past two weeks, the Amotekun Corps has ensured that no ransom was paid for kidnapping in the state, aligning with the government’s stance on the issue.
“On kidnapping, we have 10 suspects, and majority of them have victims who identified them,” he said.
The Amotekun Commander assured residents of Ondo State that the state is relatively peaceful, urging them to go about their normal duties and report suspicious movements to the Amotekun Corps.
“We want to assure farmers, especially, that in line with the directives of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Amotekun rangers remain domiciled in the forest,” he said.
Adeleye urged residents to cooperate with the Amotekun Corps, saying, “We want to assure you that we are working tirelessly to ensure the security of lives and property in Ondo State.”
The arrest of the suspected killer is a testament to the effectiveness of the Amotekun Corps in maintaining peace and security in the state.
