Late former President Muhammadu Buhari
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has lauded former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a disciplined leader who never misappropriated public resources.
Speaking at a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in Buhari’s honor at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, Akpabio highlighted the former president’s legacy of integrity and dedication to Nigeria’s progress over personal enrichment.
Akpabio, who served as a minister during Buhari’s administration, noted that even his staunchest critics admired his unwavering honesty.

“Buhari valued discipline and integrity above all.
His leadership was rooted in a purpose far greater than power or popularity,” he said.
He described Buhari as a resolute figure who navigated challenges with steadfast conviction, often walking a solitary path guided by national interest.
“He didn’t chase fleeting praise but moved forward with calm determination, always prioritizing the nation’s conscience,” Akpabio added.
The Senate President praised Buhari’s unyielding patriotism, calling him a tough yet principled leader whose commitment to Nigeria’s unity was unshakable.
“His resolve stemmed from love for country, not arrogance—a deep belief that Nigeria, despite its struggles, was worth every sacrifice,” he said.
Reflecting on Buhari’s service as both a military and civilian leader, Akpabio remarked, “In uniform or traditional attire, his dedication to Nigeria’s cause never wavered.”
